Miscellaneous content: Batman & Robin Style Guide illustrations part 2

More illustrations by José Luis García-López this week to enjoy. I particularly love the way he's kept the yellow oval symbol. I wish the film would have included that rather than the plain blue one.

  1. That resembles Michael Keaton's Batsuit. How wonder that both he and Clooney are the worst Batmen.

  2. I feel like the Merchandise Art Work for the Schumacher films doesn't really reflect their style or tone, but it does have a distinct appeal of its own.

As best I can tell these kind of illustrations don't really get commissioned anymore (indeed I think 1997 was quite late for this kind of thing), I think packaging for tie-in merchandise generally use images taken directly from films or publicity shoots, but I could be wrong.

    1. Don't forget the Burton films, because both Burton and Schumacher are friends.

    2. Yeah I think the illustration work here looks super neat.

Actually José Luis García-López went on to do similar sets of illustrations for all 3 of the Nolan movies. Not sure about the Snyder movies.
